Eleni Guerena is a queer, nonbinary therapist who offers a warm, collaborative, and identity-affirming space for adolescents, young adults, and adults working through trauma, anxiety, identity development, and life transitions. They offer therapy virtually across California and in person in Irvine through Affirming Psychological Services.
Eleni is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ clients and individuals who have experienced complex trauma, disconnection, or marginalization. They help clients explore their identities, process emotional pain, and move toward self-acceptance and growth. Eleni meets each person where they are, bringing compassion, curiosity, and a steady therapeutic presence to every session.
Their approach to therapy blends person-centered care with trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Eleni is skilled at creating safe spaces for both individual and group therapy, using psychoeducation, relational work, and practical tools to support healing and emotional regulation.
Eleni has experience providing therapy in both community and hospital settings, where they have supported clients with a wide range of needs, including those navigating trauma, neurodivergence, and complex life circumstances. Their work has included supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, and sensory sensitivities, as well as clients working through histories of abuse, identity-based harm, and emotional dysregulation. Eleni is also comfortable working with clients facing serious mental health challenges, including psychosis and conservatorship, always approaching care through a trauma-informed and affirming lens.
Eleni earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and is currently pursuing their doctorate (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Psychology. They are supervised by licensed psychologist Dr. Katie Moore, PsyD (PSY #32941).
