Meet Kaylin fitzgerald, amft

Kaylin Fitzgerald, AMFT (She/Her), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#125528)

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS STARTING MARCH 24, 2026

Kaylin Fitzgerald is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who brings empathy, curiosity, and compassion into the therapy room. She strives to create a warm, open, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe exploring vulnerable parts of their lives. Kaylin prioritizes building a strong therapeutic relationship by meeting clients where they are, expressing genuine care and interest in their experiences, and working collaboratively toward meaningful change.

Kaylin takes an integrative and client-centered approach to therapy. She draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and relaxation techniques, family systems theory, and attachment-based perspectives. In her work, she often guides clients through identity exploration, helps them examine relational and cultural influences on their lives, and supports them in identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and core beliefs. She also works with clients to strengthen emotion regulation, improve communication, and develop practical tools that support long-term well-being.

A theme Kaylin frequently observes in therapy is how often people learn to evaluate their self-worth based on external pressures and expectations. Many clients come into therapy comparing themselves to others or questioning their value. Kaylin works with clients to reconnect with their internal sense of worth, helping them build self-acceptance and move toward a life that feels more aligned with their values and identity.

Kaylin has been working in the mental health field since 2016. She began her career as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) counselor supporting individuals in recovery. She later provided school-based and community-based counseling to children, adolescents, and adults before transitioning into private practice in 2022, where she expanded her work with individuals, couples, and families.

Kaylin earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) after beginning her studies at Riverside Community College. She later completed her Master of Science in Counseling at California State University, Fullerton in 2020. She is currently preparing for the clinical exam to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2026.

Kaylin was drawn to the mental health field through her own experiences navigating mental health challenges and complex family dynamics, which sparked a deep interest in understanding human behavior and supporting others through emotional distress. She is also continuing to expand her training in trauma-informed therapy approaches as she grows in her clinical work.

Kaylin was drawn to Affirming Psychological Services because of the practice’s inclusive and affirming environment. She is supervised by Dr. Katie Moore, PsyD (PSY# 32941).
