Lex Johnson is a doctoral student in clinical psychology who brings a direct, approachable, and nonjudgmental style into her work with clients. She has a natural ability to help people feel comfortable speaking openly, often building trust quickly by leading with curiosity, respect, and genuine interest in each person’s experience.
Lex is currently completing her doctoral training at The Chicago School in Anaheim, California. She works with older teens, adults, and older adults, and is especially interested in supporting individuals navigating trauma, emotional distress, and life transitions. She plans to further specialize in trauma and PTSD as she continues her clinical training. She is supervised by Dr. Liane Roberts, PsyD (PSY #36228).
Lex was drawn to the mental health field after witnessing the impact of mental health struggles within her own community, including among friends, family, and colleagues. This experience continues to shape her commitment to helping people feel supported and to reinforcing that they do not have to navigate these challenges alone.
One of Lex’s core beliefs is that people are not acting with bad intentions, but rather responding to their experiences, environments, and the tools they have available. This perspective allows her to approach each client without judgment and with a focus on understanding rather than assuming. She prioritizes listening carefully, allowing space when needed, and offering support in a way that feels collaborative rather than directive.
Three things Lex values about this work are helping people create meaningful change in their lives, witnessing individuals begin to heal from trauma, and seeing clients reconnect with a sense of control and direction in their lives.
If you are feeling unsure about starting therapy, Lex understands that hesitation. She approaches therapy as a conversation, not a test or evaluation, and encourages clients to simply start where they are and see what the process can offer.
