Reagan Toohey brings a thoughtful, empathetic, and steady presence to her work with clients. She is known for her ability to listen closely, respond with care, and create a space where people feel safe to talk openly about what they are going through.
Reagan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science from the University of California Irvine and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School. She has two years of experience as a crisis counselor with a text-based crisis line, where she supported individuals experiencing suicidal ideation and acute emotional distress. Through this work, she developed strong skills in risk assessment, emotional support, and helping individuals navigate moments of high intensity.
Reagan is particularly interested in working with teens and adults, especially those navigating identity development, emotional challenges, and periods of transition. She is also passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and creating a space where clients feel affirmed and understood.
Her approach to therapy is grounded in humanistic principles, with a strong emphasis on empathy, connection, and the therapeutic relationship. Reagan believes that meaningful change often begins with feeling seen and understood, and she works to build that foundation with each client. She does not believe there is one “right” way to heal, and instead focuses on helping clients find what feels authentic and sustainable for them.
Reagan’s values around kindness, awareness of others, and personal responsibility shape how she shows up in the therapy room. She approaches each client with the understanding that many people are carrying struggles that are not immediately visible, and she aims to meet those experiences with care rather than assumption.
Three things Reagan values about this work are (1) the opportunity to support people through life's more difficult moments, (2) the chance to learn from the diverse experiences and perspectives of her clients, and (3) being part of a process that helps people feel more grounded and connected in their lives.
If you are unsure whether therapy is right for you, Reagan encourages you to approach it as an opportunity to explore. Therapy is shaped around you, and trying it out can help you better understand what kind of support feels most helpful.
Reagan is committed to continuing her growth as a clinician and providing thoughtful, compassionate care as she supports clients in their mental health journey. She is supervised by Dr. Katie Moore, PsyD (PSY# 32941).
