Ru Chaudhary is a Doctoral Practicum Clinician at Affirming Psychological Services, where she provides warm, collaborative, and identity-affirming therapy for adolescents and adults. As a bisexual, first-generation Indian-Canadian clinician who grew up in a bicultural household, Ru understands the complexity of navigating multiple identities and cultural expectations. Her personal experience and advanced training allow her to offer culturally responsive care that supports clients in feeling understood, respected, and valued. Ru practices under the supervision of Dr. Liane Roberts, PsyD (PSY# 36228).
Ru holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Alberta, and she is currently completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Anaheim. She is foundationally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and frequently incorporates DBT-informed approaches to help clients develop emotional regulation, strengthen distress tolerance, and build mindfulness. For those seeking a lighter or adapted DBT approach, Ru offers space to practice or refresh skills in a way that aligns with each client’s needs and goals.
Ru’s therapeutic style is grounded in radical genuineness. She brings her full, authentic self into the room and encourages clients to do the same. Clients often describe her presence as grounding and relatable, and find it easier to explore difficult emotions in a space that feels real rather than clinical. Ru believes strongly that two things can be true at once, and she helps clients build the capacity to hold emotional complexity with self-compassion.
Ru has experience supporting individuals who struggle with emotional dysregulation, identity development, stress, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed or disconnected from themselves. She integrates mindfulness throughout her work to help clients deepen awareness and reconnect with their inner world in a meaningful way.
Ru offers in-person sessions on Tuesdays and Sundays, and telehealth sessions on Fridays. She works with adolescents and adults across the lifespan.
If you are looking for a therapist who is genuine, present, and committed to walking alongside you rather than in front of you, Ru welcomes you to reach out.
