Meet Sarah Amro, MA, Doctoral Practicum Clinician

Sarah Amro, MA, Doctoral Practicum Clinician (She/Her)

Sarah Amro is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor and doctoral practicum student who works primarily with young adults navigating trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. Her background includes working with youth experiencing homelessness, survivors of abuse, young adults aging out of foster care, and individuals transitioning out of probation systems.

Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from La Sierra University and her Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Applied Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School and also provides services in Arabic. She is supervised by Dr. Liane Roberts, PsyD (PSY# 36228).

Her approach to therapy focuses on empathy, collaboration, and cultural humility. Sarah believes that many emotional and behavioral patterns make sense within the context of a person’s experiences and relationships, and she works with clients to better understand those patterns without judgment. She prioritizes creating a space where clients feel safe, respected, and able to move at a pace that feels manageable for them.

Sarah has experience working in high-acuity settings with individuals experiencing trauma-related concerns, severe mental illness, emotional dysregulation, and interpersonal difficulties. She has also facilitated psychoeducational groups focused on coping skills, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation using CBT- and DBT-informed approaches.

As a Palestinian clinician, Sarah values culturally responsive care and understands the importance of feeling seen and understood within the therapy process. She is particularly interested in attachment, childhood trauma, identity development, and the ways early experiences shape current relationships and coping patterns.

Sarah was drawn to psychology through a longstanding interest in understanding people and their experiences. She views therapy as a process of helping individuals better understand themselves, strengthen their coping skills, and work toward a more stable and fulfilling life.

If you are looking for a therapist who is thoughtful, collaborative, and focused on creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, Sarah may be a good fit.
